Mama makes her traditional fruit salad whenever we visit South Carolina. I call it Traditional Breakfast Fruit Salad. On a recent trip to visit her and my father, she made a delicious but simple fruit salad out of grapefruit, raspberries, and apple. It was tart and refreshing. Here it is: Tart Fruit Salad
Summer is for enjoying picking and eating fresh fruit. In South Carolina, we had fresh peaches, plums, and blackberries. There is nothing like a Carolina peach you buy straight from the farm. In North Carolina, we have local strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. Farmers grow melons of all kind. Fruit is the perfect dessert. My mother would object to my adding anything like mint or whipped cream or sugar. She prefers natural and unfussy, just cut up on a platter to enjoy. However, here are some delicious salads from fruit to enjoy: Strawberry with Mint Watermelon, Feta and Mint
